Location & Attractions|F1 SingaporeHeld in Singapore’s Marina Bay area, the F1 Singapore is a night-time motor race held in conjunction with an entertainment programme. A fixture in the calendar of FIA Formula One, the race was originally known as ‘Orient Year Grand Prix’ when it was first organised in 1961. Following a series of eventful occurrences, the first race was held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in 2008 as the first night-time event in the history of Formula 1. The track itself was quite impressive with a series of projectors adapting their illumination to match the shape of the course. Each year the track goes through certain modifications for the races. The third edition of the race was held in 2010 accompanied by a comprehensive 10-day entertainment line up. The series of races ended in grand style with parties, exhibitions, music concerts, shopping and dining experiences as well as race-themed events taking place. The fourth edition of F1 Singapore is set to take place from the 23rd to 25th of September 2011.
The 2011 F1 Singapore boasts the participation of Linkin Park, one of the renowned American rock
bands, as the headlining band on 25th of September. The Grammy-award-winning band has sold millions
of albums worldwide over the years. The band has been on the road promoting their ‘A Thousand Suns’
world tour for the past six months. Their latest album, ‘A Thousand Suns’ has been described as a
psychedelic journey that explores the conflict between humanity and technology. The band will be
performing a list of the biggest hits of their career in addition to new tracks from ‘A Thousand
Suns’ at F1 Singapore 2011.
