Families checking into a Singapore hotel this month can enjoy a great day out as some of the region's finest musicians gather to entertain youngsters from all over the city.

The Singapore Symphony Orchestra's Baby Proms 2009 performance serves up a series of classical music renditions tailored specifically for babies and toddlers.

Led by conductor Peter Moore, the group will perform a run-through of songs including Johan Strauss's Thunder and Lightning Polka, Can-Can by Offenbach and Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride.

"The children’s favourite Uncle Peter is back again for the eighth year running, to lead the little ones on an amazing fun-filled musical adventure!" organisers said.

Open to all children under the age of six, the concert will run from 10:00 local time, with a second performance taking place at 12:00.

Pre-concert games and activities will also take place on what is sure to be an entertaining day out that will live long in the holiday memories of youngsters.

Infants-in-arms and children under the age of two can enter the event for free, but parents of older toddlers are advised to book tickets early to avoid disappointment.
