Visitors to Singapore hotels lucky enough to get tickets to see Chinese Orchestra musician Neo Yong Soon could be treated to the sounds of the erhu, an archaic two-stringed Chinese musical instrument that could make a lasting impression.

From Rhapsody to Capriccio, starring Neo Yong Soon, plays at the Esplanade's Recital Studio on Wednesday March 3rd at 7.30pm in collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.

The musician could be performing his diverse repertoire of outstanding works by masters of the erhu, including Liu Wen Jin's classic Dream of Rulai Buddha, which incorporates Indian and central Asian musical influences where the erhu originated thousands of years ago.

George Gao's Erhu Capriccio No. 2 – Mongolian Fantasy, which combines eastern and western influences, might also delight audience members, while Wang Jian Min's Erhu Rhapsody No. 2 is a new work written with modern composition techniques with strong cultural flavours of Hunan.

A post-performance talk is due to be held in both English and Mandarin.

Tickets cost Singapore $28 with concessions for students and senior citizens.
