Location & Attractions|ChinatownLocated within the larger district of Outram, Chinatown Singapore is a neighbourhood filled with culture featuring distinctly Chinese cultural elements and a traditionally strong ethnic Chinese population. The Chinese are by far the largest ethnic group in Singapore, comprising approximately 75% of the total population. Though once quite a closed society, Chinatown Singapore has a much more open community now though it still does retain significant historical and cultural significance. Some of the popular places to visit in Chinatown Singapore include the Chinatown Heritage Centre, Chinatown Food Street and the Chinatown Night Market, which are largely maintained today for heritage and tourism purposes. Also popular is the Sri Mariamman Hindu Temple, Jamae Mosque, Smith Street and Duxton Plain Park. |
