During your visit to Singapore why not get off the beaten tourist track and indulge in a little bit of Singapore culture, by seeing Boom, a comic drama by local playwright Jean Tay.

Boom is the story of an old woman and her son who are finding it difficult to sell their home, despite the son being an estate agent.

They meet Jeremiah, a civil servant who has the same problem - except he is trying to convince a corpse to move house.

This surreal take on property sales and exhumation blurs the lines between reality and fantasy as both the living and the dead struggle to hold onto their homes.

And it is more than just a farcical comedy - it raises some interesting points about life on an island where land is scarce.

The play takes place in the DBS Arts Centre and runs everyday except Mondays from September 18th to 28th.

So if you want to understand Singapore a little better, take time out during your trip to see Boom by Jean Tay.
