With a breathtaking height of 165m the Singapore Flyer is the biggest observation wheel on the
globe; its height is equivalent to that of a 42 storey building, making it about 30 m taller than
the renowned London Eye.
As the wheel rotates the visitor will be presented with a sensational panoramic view of
Singapore’s most prominent landmarks including Singapore River, Marina Bay, Merlion Park, Raffles
Place, the Padang and Empress Place. There is no better way to obtain a bird’s-eye view of the
beautiful Lion City.
A complete wheel rotation takes about 37 minutes and the breathtaking vistas on offer ensure
that passengers are never bored. The Singapore Flyer features 28 capsules, sealed and
air-conditioned, each of which accommodates up to 28 passengers in total comfort and assured
safety.
The Merlion Park is an expansive and meticulously maintained area of greenery which lies
adjacent to the renowned Singapore River. Its well known icon is the famous ‘Merlion’, an imaginary
creature with the body of a fish and the head of a lion. The Merlion was conceived of in the 1960s
by the Singapore Tourism Board to serve as the mascot and official symbol of Singapore. Since then
the figure has become famous worldwide, becoming a proud figurehead for the small Asian nation.
A viewing deck at the park can accommodate up to 300 people at a time, providing captivating
views of the Merlion and the mesmeric skyline. Passengers who arrive on boats can also be
accommodated with a landing point situated in proximity to the statue. Bars and restaurants can
also be found in the vicinity of Merlion Park.
