News|Singapore 'offers a myriad of culinary delights'Garry Taylor, director and strategist at the International Culinary Tourism Association, said the country's cuisine forms an integral part of its appeal to visitors and holidaymakers. Singapore was recently voted alongside New York as one of the best cities to "gorge on food" by a Lonely Planet poll, with options from cheap street food to pricey fine dining. Mr Taylor said it was no surprise to see these two destinations come out top in the survey, with both offering "a myriad of culinary delights" that form the heart of their appeal. "Some destinations simply understand that culinary tourism is at the centre, not the periphery, of its tourism business," he explained. "Every visitor will eat, not everyone will visit a museum or art gallery." Mr Taylor said the multitude of cultures that exist in cities like Singapore is a major factor behind the unique ingredients and dishes on offer to visitors.
