News|Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Moon Cake Festival in SingaporeDuring the festival, families will gather together to give thanks, celebrate family unity, look at the full moon and enjoy a bountiful banquet. This event takes place on September 14th and the Singapore variety features lots of banquets held at midnight, so make sure you don't head home to your Singapore hotel too early. It is an ancient Chinese tradition which commemorates China's uprising against the Mongols in the 14th century. Rebels communicated with each other by passing little pieces of paper with messages on them hidden in cakes, which is why moon cakes - or yuek beng - are eaten by locals at this time. So sample a bit of Asian culture in Singapore this September by attending the Mid-Autumn Moon Cake Festival.
