Located to the south of Singapore, overlooking the beauty of Sentosa Island lies the
Singapore
Harbourfront. Since its inception it has been the main gateway by sea into Singapore for
passenger ships and to visitors traveling to and from Sentosa Island.
Originally a ferry port it was rapidly developed in the late 90s and early 21st century to
include many retail and entertainment attractions for visitors to enjoy.
Within the Harbourfront lies the Singapore Cruise Centre, the main entry point for cruise
ships entering Singapore. All passengers arriving by sea have to pass through its gates eventually
for disembarkation. The adjoining regional ferry terminal is the main access point to explore the
surrounding region by water.
A recently restored historic attraction which has been given a surprising modern purpose in
life is the St. James Power House. Originally the largest coal fire power station supplying the
Harbourfront and surrounding area with energy, it was reinvented as a nightlife entertainment hub.
It currently houses many bars and lounges within its walls that cater to a variety of genres and
themes.
Retail addicts are not forgotten as the Harbourfront is home to Vivo City one of the largest
mall in Singapore. It is home to the country's biggest Cineplex and comprises a vast array of shops
selling products and brands from around the world. As one is bound to work up an appetite shopping
at Vivo City, it has two huge food courts with many local and international franchises offering a
sumptuous array of food.
Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore is a luxury hotel near the Singapore Harbourfront.
Its prime location on Robertson Quay provides easy access to the express way leading to the
southern coast.
