Some of the finest pieces from Singapore's national art collection are to be placed on public display over the next few weeks.

Ramayana Revisited: A Tale of Love and Adventure, opened its doors to the public at the end of January at the Peranakan Museum.

The temporary exhibition will give both locals and visitors staying in Singapore hotels the chance to see close-up more than 100 works from the Asian Civilisations section of the city-state's official collection.

At the same time, works from other parts of the national collection are also going on display over the coming weeks, including in the Contemporary Classics exhibition being held at the Singapore Art Museum.

Announcing the launch of the shows, Singapore Art Museum (SAM) director Tan Boon Hui told the Straits Times that these special collections highlight the importance of the national collections and will give everyone the chance take in some of the region's finest works of art.

As well as its notable art collections, visitors staying at Singapore hotels can also enjoy the Orchard Road shopping hub, as well as the nightlife of Marina Bay.
