News|Peony Fairy production opens in SingaporeAdapted by Tung On Wui Kun, the production is based on the legend of the Peony Fairy and follows the story of Wang Wenyan, who saves a withering peony flower in the garden of a Taoist temple. The flower then transforms into a maiden to keep Wang company. The production will be staged on the third level of the National Library, at the Drama Centre Theatre, and performed by the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Academy 1st Troupe. Ding Fan, who is currently head of by the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Academy 1st Troupe, takes the leading male role, while the lead female role is played by Jiang Wenduan. Tickets to the three-hour show are priced at between S$20 and S$80 (excluding booking fee). Concessions for students are also available.
