Pop singer Cao Fang is scheduled to perform in Singapore next week as part of the Huayi Chinese Festival of Arts 2009.

Singing with the accompaniment of the melodica, Cao Fang will take to the stage at the Esplanade Recital Studio on Friday January 30th at 19:30 (local time).

Over the course of the 60-minute show, fans can expect the singer to perform a range of folk pop songs in her distinctively minimalist style.

Cao Fang, based in Yunnan, is in her early 20s and started writing songs when she was just in high school.

She has quickly risen up the ranks and become a household name on the Chinese mainland and in other Chinese-speaking communities abroad thanks to her successful debut solo album which was released in 2003.

Cao Fang's performance is part of the In:Music series, which presents some of the most inspiring, young Chinese indie bands and singer/songwriters performing a range of their original works.
